About
The Water Resources Laboratory – LRH was created in 2019, under the coordination of Prof. Iran E. Lima Neto. The LRH is located in the Department of Hydraulic and Environmental Engineering at the Federal University of Ceará, in the same physical space where the Porto do Pecém/CE Project was developed, under the coordination of Prof. Erasmo Pitombeira (in memoriam). The construction of the LRH and the acquisition of its equipment and accessories had financial support from several institutions: UFC, CAPES, CNPq, FUNCAP, CAGECE and COGERH.
The LRH has individual computers and a computational cluster (supercomputer) to conduct high-performance simulations. SWAT, MODFLOW, SEEP/W, CE-QUAL-W2, DELFT-3D, EPANET, SWMM and ANSYS FLUENT software are mainly used. Models and codes are also developed for processing and analyzing field and experimental data in Matlab, R, Python, among others. The laboratory also has piping systems, centrifugal pumps and injectors, rectangular channel with accessories, plexiglass tanks with background illumination, propeller anemometers, rotameters, pressure gauges, vacuum gauges, multiparametric probes, sediment samplers, meteorological meter and acoustic Doppler velocimeter (ADV) .
The objectives of LRH are: (1) to promote the formation of human resources that work in innovative and collaborative ways, both in academia and in the market, integrating the quantitative and qualitative aspects of water resources; (2) promote scientific advances and disseminate research results in journals, events, interviews, social media, among others; (3) encourage the interaction between laboratory members and institutions/companies related to the water resources sector and related areas; and (4) develop technical and technological products that contribute to improving the quality of life and the environment.
